New HP laptop.  Recognizes my older HP OfficeJet Pro printer.  But when I try to print a document it takes me to "Recipent Fax Number".  I am just trying to print.

Hi @Alexoldman,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Series printer might be set to fax mode, which is why it's prompting you for a "Recipient Fax Number." To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Make sure the printer is set to the correct print mode. You can do this by navigating through the printer's control panel and ensuring it’s set to print instead of fax.
  • If there's an option to switch between "Fax" and "Print," choose "Print."

Verify Printer Configuration on the Laptop:

  • On your laptop, check the printer settings in the control panel or the printer properties. Ensure that the printer is set to default as a printer, not a fax machine.
  • You can access this through Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners. Click on your printer, select "Manage," and then check the settings to ensure it’s not defaulting to fax mode.

Restart Printer and Laptop:

  • Sometimes simply restarting both your printer and laptop can help reset the connections and ensure that the print command is recognized correctly.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • If the issue persists, you might want to uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers. Visit HP’s support page to download the latest drivers for your OfficeJet Pro 9010 Series printer.

Reset Fax Settings:

  • If the printer has a fax function enabled, you might need to disable it or adjust its settings. You can usually find this under the "Fax" settings in the printer menu.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
