HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer

This printer drives me crazy. I connect it to my router, yet hp smart print says it's not there. Sometines it shows up and I print but nothing comes up for hours. I have Linksys mesh router with double bands.

I really like this printer but can't use it. By the time any this is a replacement I got when the last one had perpetual error message and HP sent me new one

Hi @ksevern,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps to fix it:

Assign a Static IP Address

  1. Find Printer's IP:
    • On the printer screen: Settings → Network Setup → View Network Settings Note the IP Address (e.g., 192.168.1.100).
  2. Reserve IP in Router:
    • Open your browser and enter your router’s IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.1).
    • Log in, go to DHCP or Device List, find your printer, and reserve a static IP (same as the one from step 1).
  3. Restart the router and printer.

Connect Printer to 2.4GHz Network (Not 5GHz)

  1. Log in to your router’s settings.
  2. Disable "Band Steering" (forces 2.4GHz & 5GHz on the same SSID).
  3. Rename the 2.4GHz network (e.g., "MyWiFi_2.4") and connect the printer to it.

Disable "Smart DHCP" in Router (If Available)

  • Log into your router settings and look for Smart DHCP or Auto-Optimized DHCP.
  • Disable it and manually assign a static IP (see step 1).

Keep Printer from Sleeping & Losing Connection

  1. On the printer screen, go to Settings → Power Management.
  2. Turn off "Deep Sleep Mode".
  3. Set Auto-Off to a longer duration (e.g., 8 hours).

Restart Printer & Reset Network Settings (If Needed)

If the issue persists:

  1. On the Printer:
    • Go to Settings → Network Setup → Restore Network Defaults.
    • Reconnect to Wi-Fi.
  2. On Router:
    • Restart and make sure the printer’s IP is still assigned correctly.

Use Ethernet (If Wi-Fi Still Fails)

If possible, connect your printer to the router via Ethernet cable to avoid Wi-Fi issues.

Final Step: Reinstall HP Smart App

  1. Uninstall HP Smart from your PC.
  2. Download the latest version from HP’s website.
  3. Re-add your printer using the static IP.

Let Me Know If This Works! 😊
