Thanks again. I uninstalled all HP apps and connected the printer to the router via WPS. I then added the printer in Settings but Windows didn't prompt for the driver, it just reported the printer was ready. But I still get a print error.

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

I have identified the problem. It is caused by a bug in the Microsoft port provider code. I created a new TCP/IP port with the correct IP address and I can print over wi-fi. The IP address is dynamic and may be different next time the PC boots. However I know that the PC only assigns one of three addresses. I have created two ports so far, so If it doesn't print next time I will create a third with the remaining IP address.

This is the 4th time I have tried to post this answer. The forum keeps throwing authentication errors. and loses my posts.
