Just have to share with you that I've been using HP printers for over 30 years. Great printers, lame software ever.
My Windows 11 apps see the printer as offline, HP Smart shows "Ready". Nothing helps to solve this for long. Restarts of the WIFI router, printer and PC do help till the next time. I suspect that when the printer goes to sleep, something between the PC and the printer hibernates for an indefinite period. When I send a document to the printer, it'll eventually be printed out, may take 10 min, an hour, next day... Not very convenient, is it?
All the software, firmware & drivers have been updated (never helped). Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Hi @ariel443,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8023 All-In-One Printer is showing as offline in your PC apps, but HP Smart shows it as "Ready," it could be due to several reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.
- Check the printer connectivity: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network and that it is turned on. If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC.
- Restart your printer: Sometimes, restarting your printer can fix connectivity issues. Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart your PC: Restarting your PC can also help resolve connectivity issues. Close all the applications that are using the printer and then restart your PC.
- Update printer drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your PC. You can download and install the latest drivers from the HP website.
- Reset the printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting your printer to its default settings. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
