First of all, I didn't know you had to have a warranty just to be able to take to someone at HP if you have a technical issue. That is TERRIBLE customer service!!! Second, for the first time ever, my printer is simply "offline" and none of the simple instructions in the app are working to get it back online - any help you can provide that is not the basic "turn if off/on" or "restart your computer" or "make sure your computer is connected to the internet" - that's what the HP app said and I've done all of that, but it hasn't corrected the problem.

Again, I cannot believe I can't talk to someone after having this printer just 2 years - I literally use it 1x every 6 months or so...this is RIDICULOUS!!

Hi @IDK221

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I hear your frustration—printer offline issues can be incredibly annoying, especially when basic troubleshooting doesn’t work. Let’s go beyond the usual steps and try some deeper fixes.

Advanced Troubleshooting for Offline Printer:

Reset the Printer’s Network Connection

  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the light starts blinking.
  • Run HP Easy Start on your Mac and reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi.

Check Printer IP Address & Add Manually

  • Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click + to add a printer, then select IP.
  • Enter the printer’s IP address (find it in HP Smart > Printer Settings).
  • Use HP JetDirect - Socket as the protocol.

Reset the Printing System

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
  • Re-add the printer and test printing.

Check Router Settings

  • If you have a dual-band router, ensure the printer is connected to the 2.4GHz network.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows Alternative)

  • If you have access to a Windows PC, run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose deeper issues.
  • It can sometimes resolve problems that macOS tools miss.
