Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

my iPhone will not connect to either of my printers. I have a Brother MFC – J485DW wireless printer and an HP Envy 5052. The last time I printed was a month ago. I’ve reset both of to assure the were connected to my WiFi & phone . However, when I go to print, and I select the printer, both printers reply with failed  to connect to printer.

To troubleshoot the connection issue specifically for your HP Envy 5052 printer, follow these steps:

 

Check AirPrint Status:

  • Ensure that AirPrint is enabled on your HP printer. This is required for printing from an iPhone.
    • On the printer’s display, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Settings and check for AirPrint settings. Enable it if it's off.

Restart Printer and iPhone:

  • Turn off the printer and your iPhone.
  • Wait for a few seconds and then turn both devices back on.
  • Check if the printer shows up in the list when you try to print.

Ensure Printer is Connected to WiFi:

  • Make sure the printer is connected to the same WiFi network as your iPhone.
    • On the printer, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Network Test to check the connection status.
    • If not connected, reconnect the printer to the correct WiFi network.

Reset Network Settings on Printer:

  • If the printer isn’t connecting, reset its network settings.
    • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Defaults.
    • Then reconnect it to the WiFi and try printing again.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer has the latest firmware. If not, update it via the printer's menu:
    • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.

Check for Interference:

  • Make sure there are no wireless interference issues. Try moving the printer closer to the router.

Re-add Printer to iPhone:

  • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, forget the network you’re connected to, and reconnect to it.
  • Then, try selecting the HP Envy 5052 printer again when you try to print.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If the printer is still not connecting, try using the HP Smart app to print from your iPhone. Download the app from the App Store and see if it detects the printer.
