Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

If I had to bet, I would say HP turned off the Web Services for this printer (maybe in November/December?) and never told anyone or updated the article.

Had Web Services been working for you before?  I just bought the printer used over the weekend, so I have no past experience.

Yeah I was starting to think that too, it had been working until recently.

Dang, sorry to hear you just bought the thing.

Tried to get it to scan to the computer but, even on the same network it's not seeing the printer as the latest driver won't download - looks like HP have set the 7520 adrift.

Oh no worries, I am 'upgrading' from a Photosmart 6180, so honestly as long as it can print within my network reliably I am going to be happy :D.  And it was a cheap craigslist purchase.

For scanning, I think this will function similarly to my old printer that you can initiate the scan from the Embedded Web Server (EWS). Ie, if I navigate to my printer's IP address from a browser, I can perform the scan and save the resulting file - no printer/driver software needed.

Since you just reset your printer too you may have to go to the web server --> settings --> security --> administrator settings --> enable Webscan

I have an Asus Router, and I want to just throw it here since it's not mentioned elsewhere, I think I improved the printer's wireless printing reliability by following this article and turning off "Airtime Fairness". TBD though, but the Embedded Web Server was dying randomly and seems to not be doing that anymore.

Otherwise, hopefully someone from HP can respond here and save our sanity and let us know if the 7520 has been retired from being able to use the Web Services functionality.

I’ll give the Web Scan thing a sniff see if it plays ball.
Any yeah hopefully a grown up from HP confirms our speculation.

HP Photosmart 7520 all in one series is not a part of the list of printers were Web Services no longer function for the following printers.

Hope this helps!

So why are we failing to connect if Web Services is still there?

We have already tried all the necessary troubleshooting steps and yet the issue persists. I think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region for further assistance.

Hope this helps!

@Skinup1, let me know if you end up calling or working with HP and get a resolution :). One thing I noticed from your original print out scan is you may be using an older firmware version. I am using the newest firmware and see no difference. I hate to recommend you update your firmware and break something else, but if you were so inclined to try, a mac updater can be found here: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/ps7520new/PS_7520_R1830A.dmg

@HP, any anyone else interested. I ran a fiddler session on what happens when you run an update.

Step 1): Access this manifest, I'm assuming this is the update check. http://h10141.www1.hp.com/pub/inkjet/updates/el/manifests/b_b_c_p00_df6af8b5254815e89ab30248ecb41a96.... It's a bunch of text that's mostly meaningless, but there is a "type: optional" string that indicates an update might be there?

Step 2: Accesses a URL like http://h20593.www2.hp.com:443 or http://h20629.www2.hp.com:443 . These return a 504 if you try to access them manually through the browser.

Not sure if this can be helpful or not to someone else in debugging.

Did you try calling support yet?
