Pin obviously not working when checked multiple times. We have looked in the correct spot (cartridge) on the smart tank 7005.

Hi @smarttank7005,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 7005 printer is showing a pin issue even after checking multiple times in the cartridge area. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Power Cycle the Printer

Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

This helps reset minor connection or recognition issues.

Inspect the Cartridge Area Carefully

Open the ink access door and check for any protective tape or orange clips still attached to the ink tanks or printheads.

Remove any visible packing material or tape that may block the cartridge pin area.

Check the Printhead Pins and Contacts

Look closely at the gold or copper contacts (pins) inside the printhead carriage.

Make sure they are clean, straight, and free from dried ink or debris.

If needed, gently clean them with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.

Reinstall the Printheads Securely

Lift the printhead latches, remove each printhead, and reinsert them firmly until they click into place.

Make sure each one is in the correct color slot (black and tri-color).

Check for Error Messages on the Display

If the printer still reports a pin or printhead error, note the exact message or color indicator.

Sometimes, the error may point to a specific printhead that needs reseating again.

Align the Printheads

From the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app, go to Settings → Tools → Align Printheads.

Follow the on-screen steps to ensure proper printhead positioning.

I hope this helps.
