Hello Laura-DG,
Are you not able to see the printer when adding the device? Or do you need direction in adding the printer?
Start by signing out of the HP Smart App, closing the app, reopening the app, then finally signing back in. This will refresh the app and allow you to add the printer if you hadn't seen it on your device originally.
Then, to add the printer using it's IP address: tap all printers-> Add pinter, then tap HP Print Service (or HP Inc.). Tap on the desired Wi-Fi Network, then type in the printer's name with it's IP address.
To add the printer with Wi-Fi Direct: first make sure the Wi-Fi direct button has been enabled, which is the 3rd button down on the left. Then on within the app, tap all printers-> add printer-> then tap HP Print Service or HP Inc. Tap 'Directly to the Printer', then select the name of your printer with 'Direct' in the name, then tap okay.

I am not an HP representative and although I enjoy helping, there may be a long in responses due to my (actual) job. Thanks for understanding!
