Hello! I am not able to print to my HP Deskjet 2852e. I have tried to pull in the photo from my photos on my phone (Apple), through google drive and also through the app. The photo comes in and when I hit preview the print button is grayed out. When I print from the photo, not through the app it looks as though it prints but never comes out. Here is what I have tried

1. restarting

2. changing my wifi connection from my house wifi to the HP direct wifi.
3. I have tried printing from the photos, google drive and the app.
4. I have tried different photos

The printer is able to print I was able to print the printer information report. There are not any lights on the control panel but the power button and wifi.

Downloading drivers to a computer isn’t an option. I would like to be able to print from my phone. I have printed successfully to the printer via my phone in the past.

Thank you.

Hi @Jmr283

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I can imagine how frustrating it feels when the printer information report prints fine, but photos from your phone refuse to come through. You’ve already tried several thoughtful steps—thank you for being so thorough.

Let’s focus on stabilizing the mobile printing path so the print button becomes active and the job completes.

Step 1: Refresh the HP App

  1. On your iPhone, uninstall the HP App.
  2. Restart the phone.
  3. Reinstall the latest version of the HP App from the App Store.

Step 2: Re‑add the Printer

  1. Open the HP App.
  2. Tap Add Printer.
  3. Choose your Deskjet 2852e from the list.
  4. If it doesn’t appear, connect to the printer’s Wi‑Fi Direct network (name usually starts with “HP‑Print‑xx‑Deskjet”).
  5. Return to the HP App and add the printer again.

Step 3: Test with a Simple Document

  1. Instead of a photo, try printing a plain text file or PDF from your phone.
  2. This helps confirm whether the issue is specific to images or general printing.

Step 4: Adjust Photo Format

  1. Open the photo in the iPhone Photos app.
  2. Use the Share option > Print.
  3. Select the Deskjet 2852e.
  4. If the print button is still greyed out, try exporting the photo as JPEG and printing again.

Step 5: Check Printer Status

  1. On the printer, confirm the Wi‑Fi light is steady (not blinking).
  2. If blinking, reconnect the printer to your home Wi‑Fi using the HP App.
  3. Once steady, retry printing from the app.

Step 6: Firmware Update

  1. In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
  2. Look for Firmware Update and apply if available.
  3. Restart the printer after update.

These steps should help bring the print button back to life and ensure your photos come out smoothly.
