Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just noticed that, on 2020/05/20, KLC2 asked for suggestions regarding a problem that he or she was having using HP's Embedded Web Server with the integrated print server built into a recently-acquired, up-to-date printer. With the printer connected to its network via WiFi and using Google Chrome, KLC2 reported that it was taking 5-20 minutes for the first "page" to display. Though it MIGHT NOT be relevant to KLC2's situation, I have had a similar problem with my much-older HP LaserJet 2300 printers (excellent machines that just keep on "ticking") and their positively-ancient JetDirect 610N, JetDirect 620N, & JetDirect 635N print server cards. In MY case (with BOTH Windows 7 Pro AND Windows 10 Pro), however, the printers are HARD-WIRED (with Ethernet cables) to their networks and the delay in first-page (AND subsequent-page) display is much shorter... usually 30 to 60 SECONDS (though this is STILL annoying). Actually, I wouldn't even have KNOWN that I had a problem, had it not been for the fact that, with OLDER JetDirect cards, which I was REPLACING, first-page (AND subsequent-page) EWS display had been almost IMMEDIATE. Acting on a hunch, I suspected that my newly-acquired, SECOND-HAND JetDirect cards were still PROBABLY configured (from their previous users) with too much irrelevant and/or conflicting detail and what I wound up doing was to RESET them to their "FACTORY DEFAULTS." After that, I REconfigured them with ONLY the details that I needed... i.e., IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and a few other settings. After this reconfiguration, I "power-cycled" the printers and the problem was IMMEDIATELY resolved for the JD 620N and JD 635N cards. With the older JD 610N card (now kept for backup purposes, only), something ELSE may be going on and I do not yet know what it is. In any case, with KLC2's (at the time) brand-new printer, the built-in print server SHOULD ALREADY have been set to its factory defaults and a reset shouldn't have been necessary. Nevertheless, performing a reset probably wouldn't hurt. Other than that, what I would recommend as a first step (if it hasn't already been tried, during the past four years or so) is to HARD-WIRE the printer to its network and see if HP's EWS is STILL slow to respond. Good luck with this!

Hi @GMdeD,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've had quite the journey troubleshooting your printer connectivity issues, and it's great that you've found some solutions for your setup. Your advice to KLC2 about potentially resetting the printer's built-in print server to factory defaults is a reasonable step to take, especially if they're experiencing similar delays in accessing the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

As you mentioned, connecting the printer to the network via Ethernet instead of WiFi could also help isolate the issue. Sometimes, network connectivity or interference issues can cause delays in communication between devices, so a hard-wired connection might provide a more stable connection.

Additionally, ensuring that firmware and drivers are up to date is always a good practice when troubleshooting networking or performance issues with printers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
