my printer is connected to the Wi-Fi. Everything else seems look like it works. But when it comes to printing. The black and white printing does not come clear. Even though the printing Cartridge is two days old. But the black ink is not printing clear or sometimes it comes out blank. If I’m printing something with color paper, the black print comes cleared. I was wondering if somebody can help me with this question

Hi @Jasalbat

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details so clearly—it really helps narrow down what’s happening. I understand how frustrating it must feel to have a fresh cartridge installed and still see black text coming out faint or even blank.

You’ve already done the right first step by replacing the cartridge, so let’s build on that with a few thorough checks to bring back crisp, clear black printing.

Here are some steps you can try:

Check the cartridge seating

  • Open the printer’s access door and gently remove the black cartridge.
  • Reinsert it firmly until it clicks into place. Even a slight misalignment can cause weak or missing print.

Run a cleaning cycle from the printer software

  • On your Windows computer, open the HP App.
  • Select your printer, then go to “Printer Settings” or “Maintenance.”
  • Run the “Clean Printhead” option. This flushes out any trapped air or dried ink that may be blocking the nozzles.

Print a diagnostic page

  • From the HP App, choose “Reports” or “Printer Information.”
  • Print a “Quality Diagnostic Page.”
  • Look closely at the black test pattern. If it shows streaks, gaps, or faded areas, that confirms the printhead needs deeper cleaning.

Perform a second-level cleaning if needed

  • If the first cleaning doesn’t improve results, repeat the cleaning cycle up to two more times.
  • Allow a few minutes between cycles so the ink system can stabilize.

Check paper type settings

  • In the print dialog box, make sure the paper type matches what you’re using.
  • If the printer thinks you’re printing on glossy or photo paper, it may adjust ink flow differently, which can affect black text.

Inspect the vent on the cartridge

  • Remove the cartridge and check the small vent area (usually near the label).
  • If there’s any tape or blockage, gently clear it. A blocked vent can prevent ink from flowing properly.

Align the printhead

  • In the HP App, look for “Align Printhead.”
  • Running this process ensures the cartridge is calibrated for sharp, accurate text.

By following these steps, you should see the black text becoming solid and consistent again. I truly appreciate the effort you’ve already put in—it shows great patience and care.

If after these steps the black still prints faint or blank, it usually points to the printhead needing more intensive servicing, but let’s see how far the cleaning and alignment take us first.
