Someone please explain why I have a brand new printer and it is doing the same thing. Everytime I go to print it tells me it's not detected. I restart still the app cannot find my printer. Where is support? Ugh now where to be found. I recommend never purchasing HP products again. Plus they keep taking money for printer supplies I don't even have a printer for. This company is awful. Brand new printer and it still doesn't connect. It worked twice.

@Livid224, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially for a brand-new printer. If it worked briefly and then stopped being detected, the issue is likely due to either:
Network Connectivity Issues
- Wi-Fi signal problems: If your printer is on Wi-Fi, it may be disconnecting from the network. Make sure it's on the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or phone.
- Auto-sleep settings: Some printers go into sleep mode and don’t wake up properly, especially with mobile or HP Smart app printing.
- Network switch: If your router has dual-band (2.4GHz & 5GHz), make sure your devices are all on the same band.
Driver/App Conflicts
- Outdated or missing driver: Try reinstalling the printer driver or HP Smart app.
- App can't find printer: On Windows/macOS, remove the printer from Settings and re-add it. On phones, try resetting the HP Smart app.
Printer Setup Glitches
- Setup incomplete: Some printers need to be fully set up using HP Smart before they’ll work consistently.
- Firmware update pending: Many brand-new printers need a firmware update right after setup.
Try These Steps:
- Power cycle everything: Turn off printer, router, and device. Wait 60 seconds. Turn them back on.
- Reset printer network settings (usually from printer’s screen or by pressing and holding Wireless + Cancel buttons for 5+ seconds).
- Reconnect using HP Smart app:
- Open HP Smart
- Remove any existing printer entries
- Tap “Set up a new printer”
- Follow the steps exactly (watch for any small errors or skipped prompts)
- Check for firmware update in the HP Smart app after setup.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
