HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

This afternoon my printer printed some pages I did not request. At first, it printed some pages confirming some printer email addresses and printer codes. Then, after printing three pages like that, it started to print some PowerPoint presentations showing equations, graphs and formulas with a lot of "chickens", obviously a scam.

I am trying to contact HP but its amazing how I can't reach them, due lack of contact information.

Did anybody face anything similar?

Cheers,

Hi @Tnbc123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I'd like to help!

To assit better -

Were these jobs initiated before?

Are these the documents avaialble on your computer?

Is the printer connected to a private or a public network?

Let me know!

Hello Jay,

That is the first time that it has happened. No, the printed PowerPoint presentation is a scam, and I don't recognize it as my document. The printer is in my own private home network.

Thanks,

Let's try a power reset on the printer

 Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Let's keep this under observation.

I will follow up in couple of days to check if it occured again.

Stay safe.

A page with the following statement had just been printed:

"Please stop cancelling my print jobs. Every time I try and print an important research paper you cancel it. Please stop, as I'm becoming very frustrated and annoyed with this here situation. I hope you can understand my stance on this issue.

P.S. You might want to stock up on printer ink and paper; I have a lot of printing to do!

Can you please help me to get rid of this issue?

We can perform a factory default on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Let me know how this goes!
