Says "Without an Internet connection I might lose the ability to print soon." I don't want or need my printer connected to the internet. I have it hard wired to my computer and prefer not to use WI-FI. Why will I lose the ability to print? How can I make the lit "i" icon shut off?

Hi @ShaveTex56,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy 6055e might be displaying a warning due to its Instant Ink subscription and its reliance on a connection to HP’s servers for certain functionalities. If you prefer to use your printer without Wi-Fi and keep it connected via a wired connection, here’s what you can do:
Understanding the Warning
The "Without an Internet connection I might lose the ability to print soon" message is likely related to the Instant Ink subscription. Instant Ink requires the printer to connect to the internet periodically to communicate ink levels and order replacements. Without this connection, the service can’t function properly.
Making the "i" Icon Go Off
The lit "i" icon usually indicates that there’s an informational or warning message. To address this:
Cancel Instant Ink Subscription (If Not Needed):
- If you don’t want to use Instant Ink, you might consider canceling the subscription. Contact HP support to cancel the service and switch to standard ink cartridges. This might stop the "i" icon from displaying.
Disable Web Services:
- From the Printer's Control Panel:
- On the printer, go to Settings or Setup.
- Navigate to Web Services or HP Connected.
- Select Manage or Turn Off to disable the feature.
- Using the HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Go to your printer settings.
- Look for Web Services and disable it.
Check Printer Settings:
- Ensure that the printer is set to work offline. On the printer’s control panel:
- Go to Settings.
- Look for Wireless or Network settings.
- Ensure that Wireless is turned off.
Reset Printer Network Settings:
- This will remove all network-related settings and may help reset the status.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Printer Maintenance or Advanced Settings.
- Look for Restore Network Settings and follow the instructions.
Turn Off Web Services from the Printer:
- Sometimes web services are still active even when not using Wi-Fi. Turn these off directly from the printer settings to ensure it’s not trying to connect to the internet.
Check Firmware Updates:
- Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve these kinds of issues.
- Check the HP website for firmware updates for your specific model.
- Follow the instructions to update if necessary.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank You Rachel571, I haven't completed the steps in your response but will soon. My greatest concern is I would lose the ability to print and your response put that to rest. I'm sure your instructions will resolve the other issue. Regards, Wes
