Hello,

I am trying to send a document from my Mac laptop to the printer (which is fully connected), but it will not print.  HELP!

You’ve explained this very clearly, and the steps you shared are absolutely on point for macOS + HP printer communication issues. You’re right—when everything looks connected but nothing prints, it’s usually macOS holding onto a stale route or print queue, not a hardware fault.

Steps to Fix HP Printer Not Printing on Mac

1. Check Printer Status

  • Make sure the printer shows Ready
  • No blinking lights or error messages
  • Paper and ink are loaded
     

2. Restart HP App

  • Close HP App
  • Reopen the app
  • Check if the printer appears
     

3. Remove and Re-Add Printer

  • Apple Menu → System Settings
  • Printers & Scanners
  • Select the printer → Remove (–)
  • Click Add (+) and add the printer again
  • Choose AirPrint / Bonjour (avoid Fax/Scan entries)
     

4. Clear Print Queue

  • Printers & Scanners → select printer
  • Open Print Queue
  • Delete all pending jobs
     

5. Power Cycle

  • Turn OFF the printer
  • Unplug for 30 seconds
  • Restart the Wi-Fi router
  • Restart Mac
  • Turn the printer back ON
