I have solved the issue for printer offline for my system and it was such an obvious and easy solution I thought I`d pass it along to hopefully save you some time. I have a VPN so when I go to print from my own laptop or remotely from my phone for example I get the printer not connected or printer offline. First thing to try if you have this message and a VPN is to turn off the VPN. If this doesn`t work for you, you can dive into other fixes but try this fast and easy fix first.

Hi @Wayneco,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for sharing your tip on how to handle a printer showing as offline when connected via a VPN! Turning off the VPN is indeed a straightforward and quick solution to try. VPNs can often change how your devices are perceived on your network, potentially leading to issues like printers appearing offline.
Here are a few additional steps people might consider if the printer still shows offline after disabling the VPN:
Check the Printer Connection: Ensure the printer is properly connected to the same network as your computer or phone without the VPN interference.
Restart the Printer and Computer/Device: Sometimes, simply restarting both the printer and the computer or device can help re-establish connection issues.
Check Printer Settings: Make sure the printer is set as the default printer and that it hasn’t been paused or set to use offline mode.
Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupt printer drivers can cause the printer to appear offline. Checking for the latest printer drivers from the manufacturer's website and installing them might help.
Clear the Print Queue: A stuck print job in the queue can cause further jobs to be halted. Clearing the print queue can help resume normal operations.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
