I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP Smart app on my MacBook and it is now working properly.

Hooray, version change! It works! Previously I was running 12.6.0.

But apparently within the last day, they updated to 12.6.2, and that version does indeed work. Nice.

One additional comment. This new version does work.

Quibble: every time you try to look at "supply status" it launches yet another tab in your browser of the HP Instant Ink web site. Right now I'm showing three tabs.

My HP Smart is now showing "Ready', with accurate estimated ink levels.  I did nothing since my last post, so must assume the problem was indeed between Mac and HP Smart, and that an update sorted it ...
