My HP 9010 has stopped connecting to the wifi. When I try to reconnect, I continue to get a message that an Ethernet cable has not been detected and cannot get past this. I have tried turning it off and resetting the router as well. Nothing works. I have never used an ethernet cable to connect, always wifi.

Hi @Kate819,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that you are facing connectivity issues. I’d like to help!
Make sure, your printer and your device are on the same network as 2.4GHZ only.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer is not connecting to Wi-Fi and keeps asking for an Ethernet cable, it may be stuck in a wired connection mode or experiencing a network configuration issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
Restart the Printer and Router:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Turn off the router and unplug it for at least 30 seconds.
- Plug the router back in and wait for it to fully restart.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Reset Network Settings on the Printer:
- On the printer's control panel, go to the Settings or Network menu.
- Look for an option to Restore Network Settings or Network Reset.
- Confirm the reset and allow the printer to restart.
Reconfigure Wi-Fi Connection:
- After the network settings have been reset, go back to the Network Setup or Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- Ensure you select the correct Wi-Fi network and enter the correct password.
Advanced Troubleshooting Steps
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity issues. Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer.
- On the printer's control panel, go to the Settings menu and look for Printer Maintenance or Update Firmware.
Assign a Static IP Address:
- Sometimes, assigning a static IP address to the printer can resolve connectivity issues.
- Access the printer's Network Settings and look for an option to set a static IP address.
- Enter an IP address within the range of your router but outside the DHCP range to avoid conflicts.
Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults:
- As a last resort, you can reset the printer to factory defaults. This will erase all settings and configurations.
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore or Reset.
- Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm the reset.
Troubleshooting via HP Smart App
- Use the HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer.
- Open the app and follow the instructions to add your printer.
- The app will guide you through the process of reconnecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the printer's Wi-Fi module. In this case, contact HP Phone Support for further assistance:
