Hi @madgiraffge,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing communication issues between your computer and the HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer, there are several steps you can take to diagnose and resolve the issue.

May I know

1. Since when are you facing this issue

2. Have you made any changes on your printer post that this issue raised and have you observed any light blinking on the display and error code

3. May I know if you are using genuine cartridges
4. May I know the operating system windows or Mac OS?

1. Check Network Connection

Ensure that both your computer and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  • Printer: Go to the printer's control panel and navigate to the Network settings. Ensure it is connected to the Wi-Fi network.
  • Computer: Make sure it is connected to the same network as the printer.

2. Restart Devices

Restart both your printer and your computer to refresh network settings.

3. Find Printer’s IP Address

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Settings or Wireless Settings.
  • Print a network configuration page to find the IP address.

4. Ping the Printer

On your computer, open Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac) and type ping <printer IP address> to check if your computer can reach the printer.

5. Add Printer Manually

If your computer does not recognize the printer automatically, add it manually using the IP address.

Windows:

  1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Click Add a printer or scanner.
  3. Wait for it to search and click The printer that I want isn't listed.
  4. Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname and enter the printer’s IP address.

Mac:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the + button to add a new printer.
  3. Select the IP tab and enter the printer’s IP address.

6. Update Printer Drivers Software and Drivers for HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer

Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed.

Windows:

  1. Go to the HP support website and download the latest driver for your printer model.
  2. Install the driver and follow the on-screen instructions.

Mac:

  1. Check for updates via System Preferences > Software Update.
  2. Alternatively, download the driver from the HP support website.

7. Firewall/Security Software

Ensure that your firewall or security software is not blocking the printer’s IP address or the necessary ports (e.g., port 9100 for HP printers).

8. Reset Network Settings on Printer

If none of the above steps work, reset the network settings on your printer and reconnect it to your network:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Settings and select Restore Network Settings.
  • Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network and try again.

9. HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
