Hi @PatrickTryPrint,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble connecting your phone to your printer, there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue. Here's a detailed guide to help you get connected:
1. Verify Printer and Phone Compatibility
- Ensure that your printer supports mobile printing and is compatible with your phone’s operating system (iOS or Android).
- Verify that your printer has wireless or Bluetooth capabilities if you're connecting via these methods.
2. Check Printer Connections
- Ensure that the printer is powered on and is not displaying any error messages.
- Make sure that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. You can usually check this on the printer’s control panel or settings menu.
3. Troubleshoot Wi-Fi Connection
- Restart your printer, Wi-Fi router, and phone. This can often resolve connectivity issues.
- Check that your Wi-Fi network is functioning properly and that other devices can connect to it.
- If the printer is not connected to Wi-Fi, follow the instructions in the printer’s manual to reconnect it to your network.
4. Check Mobile Printing App
- Download or update the HP Smart app (for HP printers) or the appropriate mobile printing app for your printer brand from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Open the app and follow the setup instructions to add your printer. Ensure your phone is connected to the same network as your printer.
5. Use Printer’s Built-in Features
- If your printer supports direct wireless printing (like HP Wi-Fi Direct), enable this feature on the printer and connect your phone directly to the printer’s network.
- If the printer supports Bluetooth, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the printer and your phone, and pair them as per the printer’s manual.
6. Check Printer Settings
- Print a network configuration page from your printer’s control panel to verify network settings and IP address.
- Make sure the IP address of the printer matches the one configured on your mobile app.
7. Configure Phone Settings
- Ensure Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is enabled on your phone, depending on how you are connecting to the printer.
- On your phone, forget the Wi-Fi network and reconnect to it to refresh the connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
