Hi @SteveS25,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP printer wirelessly to an Xfinity modem/router, follow these steps.

Locate the Printer's MAC Address: The MAC address is a unique identifier for your printer's network adapter. You can find it in one of the following ways:

  • Printer Display: If your printer has a display panel, go to the printer's Settings or Network Settings and look for the option to view or print the MAC address.
  • Printer Configuration Page: You can print a configuration page from the printer settings menu. This page will include the MAC address, which is often labeled as "Physical Address" or "MAC Address".
  • Printer's Web Interface: If the printer is already connected to the network, you can access its web interface by typing its IP address into a web browser.

Access Xfinity Modem Router Settings:

  • Log in to your Xfinity router's web interface by typing http://10.0.0.1 (or http://192.168.1.1, depending on your router's IP) into a web browser.
  • Enter the username and password (default is often "admin" and "password", but you may have changed this).

Add the Printer’s MAC Address to the Router:

  • Go to the Device Settings or LAN Setup section of the router's interface.
  • Look for an option to allow or filter devices by MAC address (sometimes under a section called MAC Filtering).
  • Add the printer’s MAC address to the list of allowed devices, ensuring it has permission to connect.

Connect the Printer to the Network:

  • On the printer, go to Network Setup or Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Choose your Xfinity network and enter the Wi-Fi password.
  • The printer should now be able to connect to the network wirelessly.

If the printer still prompts for the MAC address, it could be due to MAC filtering being enabled on your router. Make sure that MAC filtering is either disabled or that your printer's MAC address is added to the allowed list.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
