Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Laptop and HP printer won't communicate with each other. Printer will scan and print documents but can't send wirelessly from laptop. Blue wireless light is not on.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand the frustration here, especially when the printer itself can still scan and print, but the laptop cannot send print jobs wirelessly, and the blue wireless light is OFF. That usually means the printer is no longer connected properly to the Wi-Fi network.

Please follow the recommended wireless troubleshooting steps below carefully:

  1. Make sure the printer and laptop are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. 
  2. Restart the printer, laptop, and Wi-Fi router. 
  3. Check the printer control panel and confirm the wireless light/status: 
    • A solid blue wireless light means connected 
    • A blinking or OFF light means the wireless connection needs to be reconfigured


To reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi:

  1. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for about 5 seconds until the wireless light starts blinking. 
  2. Open the HP Smart App on the laptop. 
  3. Click Add Printer and follow the setup instructions to reconnect the printer to the wireless network.
     

If the printer still does not connect:

  1. Print a Wireless Test Report from the printer and check for connection errors. 
  2. Temporarily disable any VPN connection on the laptop during setup. 
  3. Make sure the laptop firewall or antivirus is not blocking the printer connection.

If the blue wireless light still does not turn on after these steps, please let us know the exact HP printer model and whether the printer appears online inside HP Smart.
