Hi @eddie4444,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand the frustration here, especially when the printer itself can still scan and print, but the laptop cannot send print jobs wirelessly, and the blue wireless light is OFF. That usually means the printer is no longer connected properly to the Wi-Fi network.
Please follow the recommended wireless troubleshooting steps below carefully:
- Make sure the printer and laptop are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart the printer, laptop, and Wi-Fi router.
- Check the printer control panel and confirm the wireless light/status:
- A solid blue wireless light means connected
- A blinking or OFF light means the wireless connection needs to be reconfigured
To reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for about 5 seconds until the wireless light starts blinking.
- Open the HP Smart App on the laptop.
- Click Add Printer and follow the setup instructions to reconnect the printer to the wireless network.
If the printer still does not connect:
- Print a Wireless Test Report from the printer and check for connection errors.
- Temporarily disable any VPN connection on the laptop during setup.
- Make sure the laptop firewall or antivirus is not blocking the printer connection.
Please also follow the official HP wireless troubleshooting guide below for the complete steps specific to your setup: HP printers - Wi-Fi connection is lost after router or network settings change | HP® Support
If the blue wireless light still does not turn on after these steps, please let us know the exact HP printer model and whether the printer appears online inside HP Smart.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Vikram The Great
Thanks so much for your helpful suggestions! What finally worked was uninstalling the printer and then reinstalling it. The blue wireless light still does not come on, but everything else seems to be working. Thanks again!

Hi @eddie4444,
Thank you for the update. I’m very glad to hear that uninstalling and reinstalling the printer helped restore the connection and that printing is working again.
If the blue wireless light still does not stay ON but the printer is able to print and communicate wirelessly, it is possible the printer completed the connection successfully, even though the indicator behavior is not normal for the model. In many cases, as long as the printer remains connected in HP Smart and continues printing without dropping offline, the wireless connection itself is stable.
Please continue to monitor it over the next few days. If the printer starts disconnecting again or goes offline intermittently, let us know, and we can help check the wireless settings further.
Thank you again for the update, and I’m happy to know the printer is working now.
