HP DeskJet 4152e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a DeskJet 4152 and I have been trying to connect it to the Wi-Fi for a couple of months now. The wifi connection will connect perfectly and everything works but it wont receive a internet connection preventing my subscription from going through and payment from updating essentially bricking my printer. The printer is connected through a business wifi routed through a SonicWall firewall with port 9100 allowed trough. IP and DNS have been checked and verified any tips or reasons as to why a internet connection cant be established greatly appreciated.

@Emily308, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Internet Connectivity Issues for HP DeskJet 4152!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To address your HP DeskJet 4152's issue where it connects to your Wi-Fi network but is unable to access the Internet, thus preventing subscription sync and other functionalities, here are the steps you can follow:

Check Network Configuration:

  • Verify that the printer is correctly connected to the network. Ensure that it obtains the appropriate IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.
  • Ensure that the SonicWall firewall does not block essential ports required for the printer's internet connection. Check network documentation or contact the network administrator for assistance.

Printer and Computer IP Address:

  • Ensure the IP address assigned to the printer matches the IP address settings within your network. If the addresses do not match, configure it correctly.

Fixed IP Address:

  • Set a fixed IP address for the printer to prevent IP changes that could cause connectivity issues.
    1. Go to the front panel of the printer and navigate to Settings > Advanced setup > IP settings > OK.
    2. Select Manual and enter the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway provided by your network administrator.

Network Diagnostic:

  • Print a wireless network test from the front panel: Settings > Print Wireless Network Test.
    • This report will show connectivity status and may provide recommendations if problems are detected.

Firewall Configuration:

  • Verify that the SonicWall firewall settings allow the printer to communicate over the necessary ports.
  • Commonly, HP printers require access through standard web service ports and printer communication ports. The specific ports to be allowed may include:
    • HTTP: Port 80
    • HTTPS: Port 443
    • DNS: Port 53
    • IPP (Internet Printing Protocol): Port 631

Router and Network Restart:

  • Power cycle the network devices:
    1. Turn off the router and the printer.
    2. Restart the router, wait for a few minutes.
    3. Power on the printer and attempt to connect again.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
