Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I changed my DSL to Fiber and now have a different router. I assigned the same Wi-Fi name and passwords. All my other devices recognized the network and password but my HP Office Jet Pro 9010E insists that the password is wrong. How do I persuade my printer to accept the correct password?

Very frustrating. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks

Ted

Hi @Just-Ted,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you change the type of network connection or router, HP printers can sometimes struggle with network settings cached from the old connection. Here’s how to resolve the issue on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010E.

Reset the Printer’s Network Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings or Wireless Settings.
  • Look for Restore Network Settings or Network Reset. Confirm the reset.

Reconnect to the Wi-Fi Network:

  • After the reset, go back to Wireless Settings and select Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network and re-enter the password.

Restart Both the Printer and Router:

  • Power off your printer and your new router, wait for 10-15 seconds, then turn them back on.
  • This will help refresh the network connection between the devices.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer. If there’s a firmware update, install it, as it might improve compatibility with the new router.

Double-Check Router Settings:

  • Ensure that your router's Wi-Fi security settings match the printer's compatibility, like WPA2 encryption. You can access your router settings through a browser to verify.

If these steps don’t work, try connecting the printer via the HP Smart app on a mobile device, which can sometimes streamline network setup on a new router.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
