M278-M281 series printer, was online and printed 2 pages, then went offline. Have rebooted router, computer, and printer several times. When I try to connect the printer to my network it says the passkey is incorrect, but I know it is not. Printer is out of warranty. Am willing to pay for HP service but cant find out how?

Hi @rdnash,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re having trouble with your HP MFP M278-M281 series printer going offline and having issues reconnecting to your network. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the issue and find out how to get paid support if needed:
Troubleshooting Steps
Check Printer Network Settings:
- Printer Control Panel: Go to the printer’s control panel and navigate to the network settings. Verify that the printer is connected to the correct network.
- Reconnect Printer to Network:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup or Network Setup.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. Make sure you enter the correct passkey.
Verify Network Connection:
- Router Settings: Ensure that your router is working correctly and that other devices are able to connect to the internet.
- IP Address Conflict: Check if there is an IP address conflict. You can print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to see the IP address and check if it matches any other device on the network.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check for Updates: Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues. Check HP’s website for any available firmware updates for your printer model and install them.
Reinstall Printer Driver:
- Remove and Re-add Printer:
- On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Remove the printer from the list.
- Go to Add a Printer and follow the prompts to add the printer back.
- Download Latest Drivers: Ensure you have the latest printer drivers from the HP Support Website.
Check for Firewall or Antivirus Issues:
- Temporarily Disable Security Software: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block network communication. Temporarily disable these and see if it resolves the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
