HP Envy Photo 6230 has lost all his settings, after every restart asks for language and country, then tells me to download HP Smart App to complete configuration. WiFi set-up does not work as it was previously connected, and it doesn't let me go to any menu in the display as telling me it needs Instant Ink subscription, stuck on that message, no option to reset, cancel or anything. Obviously I do have a subscription, but as the printer is offline it doesn't recognize it.
All tips to reset or reinstall network settings do only work when the display is available, but it is not, as stuck on the cartridge message....

Hi @L-and-P,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with quite a frustrating situation. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps.
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes a simple power cycle can resolve minor glitches.
- Hard Reset: If the power cycle doesn't work, try performing a hard reset. To do this, locate the reset button on your printer (usually a small hole) and press and hold it for about 10-15 seconds. This should reset the printer to its factory settings.
- HP Smart App: Since the printer is prompting you to download the HP Smart App, try installing it on your mobile device and see if you can set up the printer through the app. Sometimes, the app can help bypass certain issues.
- Direct Connection: If the printer still doesn't connect to the network, try connecting it directly to your computer using a USB cable. This might allow you to access the printer settings and configure the network manually.
Regarding the Instant Ink subscription, since the printer is offline and unable to recognize it, you may need to contact HP support or log in to your Instant Ink account online to verify your subscription status and potentially re-establish the connection between the printer and your subscription.
I hope one of these steps helps resolve the issue with your printer!
Take care and have a good day.
