@DavidTwine, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer Connection Issues with HP Smart App!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your printer's Wi-Fi light is solid blue indicating it is connected to the Wi-Fi network but still not connecting to your laptop through the HP Smart app, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Restart Devices
- Turn off your printer and your laptop.
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Wait for a few moments and reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on both the printer and the laptop.
Step 2: Check Network Connection
Ensure that your laptop and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Move the printer closer to the Wi-Fi router to ensure a strong signal.
Make sure that the wireless light on the printer is solid blue, indicating a stable connection.
Step 3: Reconnect the Printer
Open the HP Smart app on your laptop.
On the app home screen, click Add Printer or the plus sign to start adding your printer again.
Follow the prompts to complete the setup.
Step 4: Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode
If the printer is not detected, you might need to restore Wi-Fi setup mode:
- For printers with a touchscreen control panel: On the control panel, open the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network Setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.
- For printers without a touchscreen control panel, follow the instructions on Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer.
Step 5: Run Diagnose & Fix
Open the HP Smart app.
Click the Diagnose & Fix icon (Windows), or Diagnose & Fix from the Printers menu (macOS).
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
