I installed a new Modem/Router and now the Envy 7900e printer shows "offline" from my desktop computer but is available to mobile devices. Techical support has reconfigured it a couple of times and can print from the desktop for 1 day but the net day connection is lost.

Hi @jhamil1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that you are facing connectivity issues. I’d like to help!
Make sure, your printer and your device are on the same network as 2.4GHZ only.
When your HP Envy 7900e printer shows as "offline" on your desktop computer after installing a new modem/router, but remains accessible to mobile devices, it often indicates a communication issue between your desktop computer and the printer over the network. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this:
Restart Devices:
- First, restart your printer, computer, and the new modem/router. Sometimes, restarting all devices can help resolve temporary network issues.
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that your desktop computer is properly connected to the new modem/router's network. Verify that the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection is active and stable.
Printer Connection Status:
- On your printer's control panel, check the wireless connection status or network settings. Ensure that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your desktop computer.
Printer Settings:
- Print a network configuration page from your printer to verify its IP address and network settings. Compare this with the network settings on your desktop computer to ensure they are on the same subnet.
Set Printer Online (Windows):
- On your desktop computer, if the printer shows as offline:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners).
- Right-click on your HP Envy 7900e printer and select "See what's printing."
- Click on "Printer" in the menu bar and ensure that "Use Printer Offline" is not checked. If it is checked, click on it to uncheck and set the printer back online.
Reinstall Printer Driver:
- Sometimes, reinstalling the printer driver on your desktop computer can help resolve offline issues. Go to the HP website, download the latest drivers for your Envy 7900e printer, and reinstall them on your computer.
Firewall and Security Settings:
- Check your firewall or security software settings on your desktop computer. Ensure that they are not blocking communication with the printer over the network. Temporarily disable them for testing purposes if necessary.
Update Router Firmware:
- Ensure that your new modem/router has the latest firmware installed. Manufacturers often release updates that can resolve connectivity issues.
Reset Printer Network Settings:
- As a last resort, you can reset the network settings on your HP Envy 7900e printer and set it up again to connect to the new modem/router.
If the issue persists despite these steps, consider contacting HP Phone Support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
