Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

The printer will no longer print.  It tells me something is wrong with the setup.  I have had it a year and it printed when I first installed it, but it quit after we were away for an extended time.  I get a warning now that this is not the same printer that I installed and that I should cancel the print job immediately.  The message on the printer tells me the setup is not complete.

Hello @MsWestGB, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please let me know the printer's name and the model number along with the network setup of the HP device so that I can assist you further?

In the meantime, please try the troubleshooting steps provided below and let us know if it helps.

Clear All Pending Print Jobs

  • Turn the printer OFF.
  • On your computer, open Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Open Print Queue.
  • Right-click on any pending documents and choose Cancel to clear all stuck jobs.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  • Turn the printer ON.
  • Check the Wi-Fi indicator light:
    • A solid blue light usually indicates a stable connection.
    • A blinking light indicates the printer is not properly connected.
  • If needed, use the printer’s control panel to:
    • Select your Wi-Fi network
    • Re-enter the Wi-Fi password to re-establish the connection

Remove and Re-add the Printer

  • Open the HP App (HP Smart) or your printer software.
  • Select your printer and choose Remove or Hide Printer.
  • Turn the printer OFF and wait for about 30 seconds, then turn it back ON.
  • Go back to the HP App and select Add Printer.
  • Follow the on-screen setup instructions to reconnect and register the printer.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
