Hi @Sophie140,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2820e is having trouble reconnecting to WiFi. Here's a step-by-step guide to help troubleshoot the issue.

Check Your Router and WiFi

  • Make sure your router is on and your WiFi is working correctly. Try connecting another device to ensure the connection is stable.
  • Ensure that the WiFi network is 2.4 GHz, as some HP printers do not support 5 GHz.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on again. Sometimes a restart can resolve the issue.

Reconnect to WiFi via Control Panel

  • On the printer's control panel, press the WiFi button. The blue light will begin to flash.
  • Press and hold the WiFi button for about 5 seconds until the light starts blinking faster, indicating the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode.

Use the HP Smart App (Optional)

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
  • Select Add Printer and follow the on-screen prompts to reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi.

Manual Wi-Fi Setup via WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

If your router supports WPS:

  • Press the WPS button on your router.
  • Within two minutes, press and hold the Wi-Fi button on your printer until the blue light flashes rapidly.
  • Your printer should connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Reset Network Settings

  • If the above steps don’t work, reset the network settings on the printer:
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer simultaneously for 5 seconds.
    • The blue light should stop flashing, indicating a reset.
  • Try reconnecting to the WiFi again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

What if there is no WPS button on the WI-FI cable modem? We just got a G20 Arris.
