Hi @Albert19381999,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here are the answers to your questions regarding your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e All-in-One Printer.

Connection Issues

If your printer loses its WLAN connection after a few minutes, you can try the following troubleshooting steps.

  • Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Check the HP website for the latest firmware and update it if necessary.
  • Check Router Settings: Make sure your router's settings do not have any time-out settings that disconnect devices after a period of inactivity.
  • Static IP Address: Assign a static IP address to your printer. This can prevent it from losing connection due to DHCP lease expirations.
  • Wi-Fi Signal Strength: Ensure that your printer is within range of your router. If possible, reduce interference by moving other electronic devices away from the printer and router.
  • Power Management Settings: Check if your printer has any power-saving settings that may be causing it to disconnect.
  • Network Reset: Reset the network settings on the printer and reconfigure your Wi-Fi connection. This can sometimes resolve persistent connection issues.
  • Wi-Fi Direct: If you continue to have issues, consider using Wi-Fi Direct for temporary connectivity until a permanent solution is found.

Printing via Cable with HP Instant Ink

Yes, you can print via a USB cable and still use HP Instant Ink. As long as you are registered for HP Instant Ink and your printer is connected to your HP account, you should receive ink deliveries based on your usage, regardless of whether you print wirelessly or via a cable connection.

Wi-Fi Direct Printing

Yes, you can print using Wi-Fi Direct without being connected to a WLAN. Wi-Fi Direct allows you to connect your printer directly to your device (such as a computer or smartphone) without the need for an intermediate network. You can enable Wi-Fi Direct on your printer, then connect your device directly to the printer to print documents.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I just wanted to say thank you (very) much, but I couldn't find a thumb up on the bottom right.
