@Beljoy, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're dealing with multiple issues: the printer is offline, system errors are preventing reinstalling the printer, and even when it's working, the print quality isn't up to par. Let’s break this down and approach it step by step to try to get your printer working as expected.
Check Printer's Physical and Network Connection
Check cables: Make sure the printer’s power cable is securely connected. If it’s a USB printer, ensure the USB is plugged into both the printer and your computer. If it’s a network printer, make sure it's connected to the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.
Restart the printer: Turn it off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on to see if it resolves any minor issues.
Printer display: Does the printer’s screen show any error messages? If there’s a paper jam or low ink warning, resolve that first.
Check Printer Status in Windows
Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
Locate your printer. If it says "Offline," click on it and check for any specific errors.
Right-click on the printer and select "See what's printing." From here, you can try clearing any stuck print jobs.
Check the status: If it’s still showing offline, right-click the printer again, select “Set as Default Printer,” and ensure “Use Printer Offline” isn’t checked.
Troubleshoot Using Windows Built-in Printer Troubleshooter
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
Select Printer, then click Run the troubleshooter.
Let Windows attempt to diagnose and resolve the problem automatically.
Restart Print Spooler (Windows):
- Search services in the search box. Open the service menu.
- In the list, find Print Spooler.
- Right-click Print Spooler and click Restart.
- If it’s stopped, click Start instead.
- Close the window. Check if the issue persists
Run System File Check
Press Windows Key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
Type sfc /scannow and hit Enter. Let it run for about 10-20 minutes.
If it finds and repairs any issues, restart your computer.
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
