Common problems for Connectivity Issues

Android 9.0 Pie

Our business has quite a few OfficeJet Pro x576dw and Laserjet Pro 4301. Our Windows users have no trouble picking the right printer.

However, we have some mobile users on the production floor that use Android devices that struggle incredibly at finding the right printer to print, because they all show up on the tablets with the same name.

Our actual goal is so that we can have two printers with VERY obvious names for our team to pick from, depending on whether they need to print color documents or black-and-white Avery labels (letter sheet size).

For example, one of the OfficeJet Pro x576dw is set up only as WiFi direct only. We need to set this old printer up so that it always prints black and white, default paper is letter size label stock, 1-sided only, and we need it to show up on Android device very clearly as "Label Printer for Production".   As things currently sit, they have to figure out which of the 3 versions of this printer we own they need to select, then they have to constantly peck out all of those options. All we need to do is print black and white labels on this thing all day long. Do I really need to just buy a black and white printer for this when I have such a great printer sitting here ready to use?

Our IT specialist has tried to set the printer drivers up on one of our Laserjet Pro 4301 so that it shows up on the Android devices as "Production Color Paper Documents". Well, it shows up just fine on Windows PC's with that name, but it shows up on the Android devices as one of the many Laserjet Pro 4301  that we have. It's so astonishingly frustrating!
