Hi @BillF20,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the pushbutton method isn't working to set up the network settings for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182nw printer, you can still manually configure the network settings. Here are the steps to do it.
Access the Printer's Control Panel:
- Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to your computer or network.
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the "Setup" or "Settings" menu. The exact location and wording of these options may vary slightly depending on your printer's firmware version.
Network Setup:
- Look for an option related to "Network Setup" or "Wireless Setup." Again, the specific wording may vary.
Select Network Connection Type:
- Depending on your printer, you might be prompted to choose between a wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi) connection. Select the appropriate option for your setup.
Manual Network Configuration:
- Choose the "Manual" or "Custom" setup option instead of the automatic (pushbutton) setup.
Enter Network Information:
- You'll need to enter the relevant network information manually. This includes:
- SSID (Network Name): Enter the name of your wireless network.
- Password (WPA/WEP Key): Enter your network's security passphrase or key.
- IP Address Configuration: Depending on your network setup, you can choose between DHCP (Automatic IP assignment) or set a static IP address. DHCP is the most common choice for home networks.
Confirm and Save:
- Review the settings you've entered carefully to ensure they are accurate.
- Once everything is correctly entered, save the settings.
Connection Test:
- After saving the settings, your printer may perform a network connection test to ensure it can communicate with your network.
Print a Network Configuration Page:
- To verify that your printer is connected to the network, you can print a network configuration page. This page will display details about your printer's network settings, including its IP address.
Install Printer on Computer:
- After successfully configuring the network settings on your printer, you'll need to install the printer on your computer. You can do this by downloading and installing the appropriate printer drivers from the HP website or using the drivers that came with the printer.
Test Printing:
- Finally, print a test page to ensure that your printer is properly connected and functioning.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
