HP OfficeJet 5258 All-in-One Printer

We have a new wifi router and I cannot get the printer to connect to the wifi. The wifi shows up as "not encrypted," which is not true and so it never asks for the wifi password.  There is no way to plug the printer directly into the router (no ethernet plug on back of printer) My print report suggested a mac address problem but that shouldn't the issue. So far, I've tried resetting modem, router, and even set printer back to factory settings as well as resetting network. It is like the printer won't really let me reset. to factory settings or the network reset... This is incredibly frustrating and it appears other people have had similar issues. PLEASE ADVISE!

@LynCl, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you are not able to connect the printer to the new router.

  • This printer supports WPA encryption, check if the router is on the same encryption method. If using WEP or WPA-PSK+FT change it to WPA-PSK
  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
