HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe Printer

My printer is online, I can ping it, but when I go to print, it goes offline. But at the same time, the "i" information light does not go away. I tried reseting a couple of times and go through set up with no resolve.

Hi @Tom7575,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is showing as online and you can ping it, but it goes offline when you try to print, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check Printer Status on Your Computer

  • Remove and Re-add the Printer:
    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your printer and click Remove.
    3. Restart your computer, then add the printer again.

2. Set Printer as Default

  • Make sure your printer is set as the default printer:
    1. In the Printers & Scanners menu, find your printer.
    2. Click on it and select Manage.
    3. Choose Set as Default Printer.

3. Check Print Queue

  • Ensure there are no stuck print jobs:
    1. Go to Devices and Printers.
    2. Double-click on your printer to open the print queue.
    3. Cancel any stuck jobs and try printing again.

4. Disable SNMP Status

  • Sometimes, the SNMP status can cause the printer to show offline:
    1. Right-click on your printer in Devices and Printers.
    2. Select Printer Properties.
    3. Go to the Ports tab.
    4. Select the port your printer is using (often TCP/IP) and click on Configure Port.
    5. Uncheck Enable SNMP Status and click OK.

5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers installed:
    1. Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
    2. Install the drivers and restart your computer.

6. Firewall/Antivirus Settings

  • Check if your firewall or antivirus is blocking the printer connection:
    • Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus to see if that resolves the issue.

7. Check Network Connection

  • Ensure that your printer and computer are on the same network. If you have multiple networks (like a guest network), make sure they are both connected to the same one.

8. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for about 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
