Hi @nevadabgi,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Server Problem" message on your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer typically indicates that the printer cannot connect to HP Web Services. This issue could be caused by several factors such as network connectivity problems, outdated printer firmware, or server-side issues. Here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot the problem.

Check Internet Connection

  • Ensure your printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  • Try using another device (like a laptop or smartphone) on the same network to confirm that the internet connection is working properly.

Restart the Printer and Router

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and leave it off for about 60 seconds.
  • Restart your router by unplugging it for a similar duration and plugging it back in.
  • After the router is fully powered on, turn the printer back on.

Update the Printer Firmware

  • Outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues. Make sure your HP ENVY 7640 is up to date:
    • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer or HP ePrint > Check for Update.

Disable and Re-enable Web Services

  • Disabling and re-enabling Web Services can refresh the connection:
    1. On the printer's control panel, navigate to Web Services Settings.
    2. Select Remove Web Services to disable it.
    3. Wait for the process to complete, then go back and select Enable Web Services.
    4. Follow the prompts to re-enable Web Services and generate a new claim code if necessary.

Reset the Network Settings on the Printer

  • You can also try resetting the network settings and reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network:
    1. From the control panel, go to Network > Restore Network Settings.
    2. Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network by going to Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.

Check for Network Configuration Issues

  • If the problem persists, it might be related to IP address conflicts or firewalls:
    • Set a static IP address for your printer through your router's settings.
    • Ensure your router's firewall is not blocking the printer from accessing HP servers.

Check HP Servers

  • Occasionally, HP’s Web Services servers may be down for maintenance or experiencing issues. You can try again later or visit HP’s support site to check if there are any known outages.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
