My printer shows as last synced Sep 13, 2024. Since then it's shown a status of unable to connect. The wifi button is a solid blue, but the info button is flashing orange. I've gone through several tutorials to fix this. I'm lost!
[Updated to add]
I'm enrolled in InstantInk, and my printer is not being recognized, so I'm basically paying for a useless service. I think my printer is showing an error for the ink. So, my problem remains... how to get my printer to connect!

Hi @chentwinks,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP DeskJet 4155e may be experiencing a connectivity issue with the Instant Ink service, likely due to the flashing orange info button, which typically indicates an error.
Here's a troubleshooting checklist to help get your printer connected.
Restart the Printer and Router:
- Turn off your printer and unplug your router for about a minute.
- Plug the router back in and wait for it to reconnect to the internet.
- Turn the printer on, wait until it shows a steady blue Wi-Fi light, and check the connection status.
Check for Ink-Related Issues:
- Open the printer's ink cartridge area and ensure the cartridges are properly installed.
- Sometimes, reseating the cartridges or replacing any low or problematic cartridges can resolve ink-related errors that might prevent Instant Ink connectivity.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Use the HP Smart app on your phone or computer to check for a firmware update for the printer. Updated firmware can fix compatibility and connectivity issues.
Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi:
- If the blue light remains steady but connection issues persist, reset the Wi-Fi setup on the printer by pressing the Wi-Fi and Cancel buttons simultaneously until the Power button blinks. This should reset the wireless connection.
- Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi using the HP Smart app on a device connected to the same network.
Re-register the Printer with Instant Ink:
- Since your printer is enrolled in Instant Ink but isn't connecting, you may need to log in to your HP Instant Ink account and re-add the printer once it’s back online. This can help clear any registration issues and ensure the subscription is active on the correct device.
If these steps don't work, consider performing a factory reset. You may find the option in the HP Smart app or on the printer itself. This will reset all settings, so you'll need to reconnect to Wi-Fi afterward.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
