I have the HP Envy6152E…I go to print and the printer says printing on the small screen but never prints. Connection is there as the printer says printing the document, it just never actually prints. Same thing when I try to make a copy.

Hi @lisagutrez26

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Let’s work through this step by step to get your HP Envy 6152e printing again.

Since the printer shows “printing” but produces no output and also fails to copy, the issue is likely with the hardware initialization or print system inside the printer. Here’s a structured approach:

Step 1: Power Reset

  1. Turn the printer on if it isn’t already.
  2. With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
  6. Turn the printer back on and check if it responds normally.

Step 2: Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove both cartridges and inspect them for protective tape or clogs.
  3. Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.
  4. Close the access door and try a copy function to see if the printer responds.

Step 3: Run Printer Self-Test

  1. On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup or Settings.
  2. Select Reports or Printer Maintenance.
  3. Choose Print Quality Report or Printer Status Report.
    • If the printer prints this report, the hardware is functioning.

Step 4: Update Firmware

  1. On your computer (Windows or Mac), open the HP App.
  2. Add your printer if not already added.
  3. Go to Printer SettingsAdvanced SettingsFirmware Update.
  4. Install any available updates and restart the printer.

Step 5: Reinstall Printer in HP App

  1. Remove the printer from the HP App.
  2. Restart your computer and printer.
  3. Re-add the printer in the HP App and try printing again.

Step 6: Test Copy Function Again

  • Place a document on the scanner glass and press Copy.
  • If it still doesn’t copy, the issue is internal hardware/software initialization, and repeating the power reset plus firmware update usually resolves it.

Try these steps in order. The power reset and cartridge reseating often restore functionality quickly.
