HP ENVY 4524 All-in-One Printer

Sometimes the message “select to transform “ appears when I attempt to print. When this message appears the print command is greyed out. Tried switching iPhone, printer and router off but to no avail. Any solutions?

Hi @HughSk,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with your printer.

To address the issue with your HP ENVY 4524 All-in-One Printer where the message “select to transform” appears and the print command is greyed out, and to proceed with troubleshooting steps, I need a few details.

  1. Are you using a specific app or software to send print jobs from your iPhone? If so, which app (e.g., HP Smart, Apple AirPrint)?
  2. Is the printer showing any other error messages or status indicators on its display?
  3. Is your iPhone, printer, and router connected to the same Wi-Fi network?
  4. Have you recently updated any software or firmware on your iPhone or printer?

Meanwhile, I also want you to perform the steps below.

heck Printer Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings > Restore Network Settings and then reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. This may resolve any connectivity issues affecting printing.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Ensure the HP Smart app on your iPhone is up-to-date. Go to the App Store, check for updates, and install any available updates.

Reconfigure Printer Settings:

  • Open the HP Smart app, select the printer, and check if there are any settings or preferences related to print transformations or document handling. Make sure there are no incorrect configurations.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @HughSk,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Reset Print Settings:

  • If available, access the printer’s settings through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel and perform a Factory Reset or Reset Print Settings. Reconfigure the printer setup afterward.

Test Another Print Job:

  • Try sending a different print job or using a different file format (e.g., PDF, JPEG) to see if the issue persists.

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your iPhone and then reinstall it. This can resolve any app-specific issues or glitches.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website and check if there is a firmware update available for the HP ENVY 4524. If so, follow the instructions to update the printer’s firmware.

Check for Printer Driver Updates:

  • Ensure that any drivers or software used on other devices (e.g., computers) are up-to-date, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with printing commands.

These steps should help resolve the issue with the "select to transform" message and greyed-out print command on your HP ENVY 4524.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
