Help! The printer now only gives me Ethernet options and not WiFi- it isn’t even accepting WiFi at all now. It’s telling me to check the Ethernet connections but I don’t even want that. I’ve restarted, reset to factory, all of it but still no WiFi options at all. Please help!

Hi @Bk6533,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 9019 is stuck in Ethernet mode and is not detecting WiFi connections, despite multiple resets.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:
1. Check Wireless Settings
- Access the Control Panel on the printer screen.
- Go to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Settings. This will reset the network settings and clear any Ethernet settings that might be causing the issue.
- After resetting, go to Wireless Setup Wizard under Network Settings and attempt to reconnect to your WiFi.
2. Disable Ethernet
If your printer is prioritizing Ethernet, make sure to disable Ethernet or unplug the cable if it's connected. Then, follow these steps:
- Disconnect any Ethernet cables from the printer.
- Ensure that in Settings > Network Settings, the Wireless option is enabled.
3. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
Outdated firmware can cause networking issues. To update:
- Download the latest firmware for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9019 from HP’s website.
- Install it on your printer through the Update Firmware option in the settings.
4. Reboot Network Devices
If resetting the printer didn't work, try rebooting your network:
- Power off your printer, router, and modem for at least 60 seconds.
- Power them back on, starting with the modem, then the router, and finally the printer.
- Reattempt the wireless setup after everything has booted up.
5. Advanced Wireless Setup (Manual)
If the WiFi options still aren’t available, you can try using HP Smart or the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
Use HP Smart App:
- Connect your printer via USB or Ethernet temporarily.
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer, navigate to Printer Settings, and select Wireless Setup.
- The app should guide you through setting up your WiFi connection.
Use Embedded Web Server (EWS): Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
- Find your printer’s IP address on the control panel or via the printer settings.
- Open a web browser on your computer and type the printer’s IP address into the address bar.
- Go to the Network or Wireless section and set up your WiFi connection manually.
6. Check Router Settings
Ensure your router is compatible with the printer. The printer supports:
- 2.4 GHz wireless network band. If your router is on 5 GHz only, enable 2.4 GHz as well.
- Check if there’s any MAC address filtering on your router that might block the printer from connecting.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
