HP ENVY 5532 e-All-in-One Printer

Mac OS 13.1 Ventura - printer cannot not be seen by computer following upgrade to Ventura.  I have connected it via HP app, but Image Capture cannot see the printer and that app has better options than HP App.  I am sure this is Ventura related as the printer only got 'lost' after upgrading the OS - it shows as having driver version 3.9, is this the latest and can anyone help me complete the installation please?

Hi @Veekee,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • Have you tried performing any troubleshooting for this issue on your own?

While you respond to that, please go ahead and uninstall the HP Smart app from your MAC PC.

Steps to uninstall HP Smart and reinstall:

  • Click Finder, and then click Applications. In the list of apps, click and drag the HP Smart app to the Trash at the end of the dock.
  • Go ahead and Update the software on Mac
  • Restart PC
  • Once the PC is turned back and idle, download HP Smart
  • Once installed, check if you are able to access the app.

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
  • Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Thank you for your suggestion, and apologies for the delay in replying - I normally only have time for these IT issues over the weekend.

I removed HP Smart, emptied the trash, rebooted the Mac, rebooted the router and the printer.

Mac's System Settings could only 'see' the printer if I search through the IP address and the newly downloaded HP Smart shows the printer BUT says it is offline.

Asking HP Smart to print returns the message "The selected printer is detected but not installed completely on your Mac.".  Clicking "install Printer" returnes the message "There was a problem during installation. To manually install the printer driver:" with Step 1 taking me to System Settings where no new printers are detected.

The Driver version is 3.9, though if this needs updating the Mac cannot see the printer to carry this out.

Hope you might be able to find a solution for me as this printer is not that old and still works fine with my husband's mac, which is on OS 12

A quick update:  Bought a new printer, as HP suggested, which arrived this morning.  This incurred another 3 hours on the phone to HP call centre, trying to get it to print, though the important information came at the end of that call

HP have not updated printers for OS 13 yet, so for all of you who are in the same boat as myself I guess we may have to wait a while before we return to happy printing!

Come on Hewlett Packard, how long do you need to sort this?

I have the same issue.  Is it not resolved?

This is the 2nd HP printer (Envy 6055e) that IS connected in every way, but at the same time,  insists it is not.

I installed it using the IP address on the info page it printed, and it still says it's not installed.  In settings on my Mac, the printer is listed and connected.  When I try to print a document, I get this.... (see photo)IMG_9449.jpeg

Since my first post, I spent many many hours on the phone to the HP team and now have both printers, Envy 5532 and and Envy 6032e, scanning and printing most of the time.

I can no longer use Image Capture, which is frustrating as it's a solid and reliable app, and am forced to use HP Smart for scanning.  On the couple of occasions that I have been unable to print or scan, it coincides with an update of HP Smart.

Thanks!  Not looking forward to hours on the phone... haha

Already spent 2 or 3, and then 2 this morning trying to do it on my own and emailing here. 🙄

Maybe the time will be shorter.  Thanks again.

It was my Spectrum wifi.  Switched to my Windstream (Kinnetic) ISP and it worked immediately.
