Hi @Hicks66,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Let's troubleshoot your HP printer to get it back online. Here are some steps you can try.
Restart Devices:
- Restart your printer, router, and computer.
Check Connections:
- Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network if it's a network printer.
- If it's a USB printer, make sure the USB cable is securely connected.
Printer Settings:
- Make sure the printer is set as the default printer.
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Set as default printer.
Network Printer Specific Steps
Reconnect to Network:
- Go to the printer’s control panel and re-establish the connection to your Wi-Fi network.
- You can usually find this option under Wireless Settings or Network Settings.
IP Address Check:
- Ensure your printer's IP address hasn’t changed. Print a network configuration page from your printer and check the IP address.
- On your computer, go to Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, select Printer properties, and update the IP address if needed.
Ping the Printer:
- On your computer, open the Command Prompt and type ping [printer's IP address].
- This will help you verify if your printer is reachable on the network.
Software Troubleshooting
Update Printer Driver:
- Visit the HP support website and download the latest driver for your printer model.
HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the HP support website. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and scanning issues.
Printer Reset
- Factory Reset:
- If nothing else works, you can try resetting your printer to factory settings. Refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
