Why won't my HP ENVY 6052 stay online? It falls offline at random, and no matter what I do, it does not resolve the problem. I have attempted every troubleshooting action I can find, from hardware to software to network and app. I give up and leave it alone for a few days, then suddenly, it starts working again when I don't need it. I am ready to go to Office Space on it. Worst printer I have ever had. The app says it's online, but my print queue says it's offline on my phone and laptop. None of it makes sense. And, why can't I find a customer support number to call? Do I really have to have a subscription to get customer support?! If so, this is the last HP product I will ever buy.

Hi @SuprChEEf
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I hear your frustration loud and clear—and you're absolutely not alone in this.
The HP ENVY 6052 has a known tendency to go offline unpredictably, and it’s maddening when it works only when you don’t need it.
Let’s break this down and get you some clarity and control.
Why It Keeps Going Offline
The issue often stems from a mix of:
- Unstable Wi-Fi connections (especially on dual-band routers)
- Sleep mode conflicts between printer and device
- Driver or firmware mismatches
- HP Smart app showing false online status
Even if the app says it's online, your laptop or phone may not be able to communicate with it due to IP conflicts or network isolation.
What You Can Do (That Actually Helps)
1. Assign a Static IP
- Go to your router settings and assign a static IP to the printer.
- This prevents the printer from “disappearing” when your network refreshes.
2. Disable IPv6 on the Printer
- Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by typing the printer’s IP into a browser.
- Navigate to Network > Advanced Settings and disable IPv6.
- This helps stabilize connectivity on many networks.
3. Turn Off Auto Sleep
- On the printer’s control panel or EWS, disable sleep mode or extend the timeout.
- This keeps the printer awake and responsive.
4. Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)
- In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
- Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.
5. Update Firmware
- Visit HP’s firmware update page to ensure your printer has the latest version.
Not to worry, let's work together to get this resolved.
