Printer says offline, but wifi light is on and it occasionally prints wireless. Most of the time I have to connect with a cable. Tried everything with routers, networks, etc. What am I missing? Thanks!

Hi @printer2312 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 6430e printer is showing as offline despite the Wi-Fi light being on and occasionally printing wirelessly, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Connection:
- Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. Double-check the Wi-Fi network settings on the printer.
- Verify that the Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable where the printer is located.
Printer Queue:
- Open the print queue on your computer and check if there are any pending print jobs. If there are, try canceling them and then restarting the printer.
Restart Devices:
- Power off both your printer and your computer. Wait a few minutes, then power them back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
Check Printer Status:
- On your computer, go to the Control Panel or Settings, depending on your operating system. Look for "Devices and Printers" and check the status of your printer. If it's set as the default printer and still showing offline, try setting it up again.
Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer and reinstall them. Make sure you download the latest drivers from the HP website that are compatible with your operating system.
Firewall/Antivirus Software:
- Sometimes, security software can block communication between the printer and the computer. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software to see if it resolves the issue.
IP Address:
- Assign a static IP address to your printer instead of using DHCP. This can prevent the IP address from changing and causing connectivity issues.
Check for Interference:
- Make sure there are no electronic devices or physical obstructions causing interference with the Wi-Fi signal.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
