HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Printer

I haven't been able to print using WiFi.  I keep seeing an error message that says "Ethernet cable has not been detected...".  I have never had ethernet connected directly to the printer and I can't seem to find why wifi is not getting setup.  I've seen in previous threads that a factory reset is required, but I don't know how to do that.

I've found how to reset to factory default, but I'm still having issues.  When I go to Settings, I still don't see Wireless Settings.  So I can setup my wireless network.  I'm also still seeing the message "Ethernet Cable has Not been detected.  Make sure that both end of cable are inserted".  And now my HP Ink is not set up anymore.

Hi @dmarcus13,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering the "Ethernet cable has not been detected" error message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 and you want to set up a Wi-Fi connection, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue and set up Wi-Fi.

Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled: Make sure your printer's Wi-Fi feature is turned on. You can usually enable it through the printer's control panel or touch screen menu. Refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions.

Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connection issues. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check your Wi-Fi Network: Verify that your Wi-Fi network is operational and that other devices can connect to it without any issues.

Reconnect Wi-Fi: On your printer's control panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi settings or network setup menu. Look for the option to set up or reconnect to Wi-Fi. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network. You may need to enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.

Wi-Fi Direct: Some printers have a Wi-Fi Direct mode, which allows you to connect directly to the printer without a Wi-Fi network. You can check if your printer supports this feature and try connecting to it in Wi-Fi Direct mode.

Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve functionality.

Factory Reset (if necessary): If all else fails, you can perform a factory reset on your printer. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings on your printer, including Wi-Fi configurations. To perform a factory reset, follow these steps:

  • a. On the printer's control panel, navigate to the "Setup" or "Settings" menu.
  • b. Select "Tools" or "Reset."
  • c. Choose the option for a factory reset and follow the on-screen instructions.

After performing a factory reset, you can set up the Wi-Fi connection again as mentioned in step 4.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.  I'm still having issues.

First of all I've already done a factory reset and things are still not working.

I do not see any ability to set-up the printer for wifi.  The manual says to go to Settings> Wireless Settings to set things up.  "Wireless Settings" does not exist in the Settings menu anymore.  Also when I go to Settings>Network Setup I get the message pop up again saying "An Ethernet cable as not been detected....."

I've tried testing Wi-Fi Direct but that doesn't seem to work.  In addition, ever since I did factory reset I get a message that pops up that says "Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink". Since I can't cannot to the network my instant ink cartridges won't work.

Please let me know what other troubleshooting I can do, or if there is someone I can speak to directly at HP.

Thanks!

Ok, I think I figured out a solution.

I had to choose "Cold Reset".  Once I did that, the wifi blue light starting blinking. And then I had to set up my HP printer with the HP printer app and it allowed my wifi connection.

Everything seems to be working now.

Thanks!

Dave
