Hi @Robgarts

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 printer is stuck in idle mode, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Connection:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your computer or network (via USB, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet).
  • If using Wi-Fi, confirm that the printer is connected to the correct network.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for the latest firmware updates for your printer model.

Print a Test Page:

  • On the printer's control panel, swipe left to access the "Setup" menu.
  • Select "Print Reports" and then "Printer Status Report" to see if the printer is functioning correctly.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Let me know how it goes!
