My printer is saying that it has been compromised

Browsers flag any site that uses HTTP as "Not Secure" because HTTP data is unencrypted.

I assume you are trying to connect to the EWS printer service using Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.

using something like http:192.168.1.120 or https://192.168.1.120 or the hostname of the printer if not the IP address.

If windows it is probably easier to just bypass the warning

To bypass a security or "not secure" warning when opening your printer's web page (Embedded Web Server) in Windows, you can click through the hidden advanced options in your browser or force an unencrypted HTTP connection.

Option 1: Use the "Advanced" Bypass Link in Your Browser

Most browsers block local printer pages because the printer uses an outdated self-signed security certificate.

• In Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome: Click the Advanced button on the warning page, then click the link that says Continue to [IP address] (unsafe) or Proceed to...
• Alternative Chrome/Edge Shortcut: If no link appears, click anywhere on the white error page background and type thisisunsafe on your keyboard. The browser will immediately let you through.
• In Mozilla Firefox: Click Advanced, click Accept the Risk and Continue, and click Add Exception.

Option 2: Force an HTTP Connection Instead of HTTPS

Your browser might be automatically trying to upgrade an insecure local connection to a secure one that the printer doesn't actually support.

• Check your address bar. Change https:// at the beginning of the printer's IP address to http:// and press Enter.

Option 3: Change Printer Settings to Stop HTTPS Redirects

If you manage to log into the printer once, you can turn off the strict security redirect permanently:

1. Open your printer's web page and log in as the administrator.
2. Go to the Network or Security tab.
3. Look for Management Protocols or HTTPS Enforcement.
4. Uncheck or disable options like Always use HTTPS or Redirect to HTTPS and save the changes.
